Nicholas White is an ex student from Plymouth College of Art, who shoots mostly on Dartmoor. His photographs have this sense of blankness which I aspire to have in my own imagery. The colours and tones in his work are muted which add to the minimalistic feel to them. He takes photographs landscapes and portraits.
The deadpan, full body portrait paired with the location, muted tones, mist adds an a sense of drama and mysteriousness to this image. This photograph is stunning, and among one of my favourite photographs I’ve seen. The depth of field is incredible; it is composed and exposed correctly and in the way I envisioned.
The 1×1 format works perfectly for the composition for this image. The tones and colours makes for a clean image. The misty effect brings a sense of scale and atmosphere.
As a whole, his images are so beautiful. They are photographs I really aspire to take as I grow as a photographer. They capture beautifully the deadpan aesthetic.
